The location of the main Artworks / Sculpture designed by Infinity Landscape Architects directly in front of the Administration building reinforces the main entry to the School. The design of this piece aims to celebrate the indigenous grasslands of the Western plains of Melbourne depicting forbs and grasses in a striking, but playful manner.
The colour scheme has been carefully chosen to compliment the kaleidoscope of colours contained in the glazed bricks of the background building, rather than compete with it. This thought process has been applied to colour selections throughout the landscape as well as the form of the Arbor which mimics the building lines in the background.
The landscape planning & design process took just under one year and the landscape installation a further 9 months.
The School Frontage is not a useable landscape in respect of play opportunities, but a high-quality landscape that has the potential to improve connectedness with art and the outdoor environment and foster a sense of self-worth for students, and well-being for the School and the wider community. Excellence now begins at the school gate!
Truganina P-9 College School Frontage was an entrant in the 2021 Australian Institute of Landscape Architect Victorian Awards.
